Toxins

The menu of the Health Food Store surprised me this evening. Bacon and scrapple with heaps of additives. Chicken fried steak, with artificial gravy. MSG and mayonaisse everywhere, and simple sugars, and lactose, and alar, and DDT, and unfiltered water, served in degraded plastic. Deep fried candy bars. You name it.

I was more fascinated than disgusted. Did we all used to eat like this? Clearly we survived, but...

"How is this health food?" I incredulously asked the friendly young hippy behind the counter.

"Oh," he said casually, "we're having a vampire epidemic here in Santa Carla. The more toxins you can get in your bloodstream, the safer you'll be."
