A few weeks ago I went to a deli down in San Jose. They've got this spread - it looks like a greenish mustard. It has a flavor that is completely different from any other. They don't even name the stuff. The walls and floor are all padded there.

I had a tempeh sandwich. After a few tasty bites of the sandwich unadorned, I spread some of this stuff on and tried it. I can't describe the flavor. In fact, for the past few weeks I've been trying to write an LJ entry describing it and every time I fell on the ground in the same kind of convulsions I had after that first bite. I could feel neurons growing in response to this impossible new stimulus. Neuron growth is so very pleasant and healthy that is makes up for all the headaches, convulsions and dizziness that I got from this new sensation - this catastrophe of experience.

I'm going back tomorrow. The chef told me that a few weeks after the convulsions, I should have built up the right brain structure so that I can try the sauce without further risk. The regulars say it's probably worth it.

What beverage should I have?
