Today is a day to remember tragedy
Nov. 20th, 2008 04:03 pm"I don't do magic tricks," the man in the top hat told me, "I do tragic tricks."
I made a polite noncommittal noise and looked around.
"Would you like to see one?" he asked, leaning in a little too close.
"No, not really," I said, "It sounds kind of depressing."
The tragician looked crestfallen. Really, really wounded, like maybe I'd made him realize what a stupid idea it was, and maybe it just broke his heart. I felt bad just realizing I'd deflated his idiotic balloon, then mad at him for getting his hopes up to think someone would want to see a tragic trick, then guilty for getting mad.
Then he took off his hat proudly and flashed me a smile and some jazz hands.
"TA DA!", he said.
I hate this stupid bus.
