The exciting thing about parallel realities isn't the big simple narrative of history. The big history stuff is pretty much the same, all Hitler this and zeppelin that and somehow Fidel Castro is always a baseball player.
What's exciting is the way folk sayings change. They're mathematically chaotic and they mutate rapidly in any parallel history.
(I guess the actual machinery to get to parallel universes is pretty cool, too, because the first thing anyone does is go to the parallel reality with the slickest UI designers and get an upgrade there, but the folk sayings are the most exciting.)
