"Look," I told the car dealer, "I'm all for new technology. Hybrid gas/electric cars combine power with efficiency. Eventually, as gas prices go higher and higher, they'll replace gas-only cars, without a doubt. Anyway, I approve of hybrid vehicles in theory."

The car dealer looked like he was going to give me a sales pitch, but I had put wax in my ears to protect myself from his siren objection-handling ways.

"A gas/electric hybrid sounds great," I said, "but a human/automobile hybrid? Don't you think that's going too far?"
