I was driving in my neighborhood when I saw a new road sign, diamond-shaped and yellow.

"When people say 'Just be yourself,' they really mean, 'Be relaxed and confident.'"

That's what the sign said. Be relaxed and confident. Thanks, sign!

A few blocks away, another sign - a red triangle. "If you're overwhelmed, figure out a single, simple first step and do it. Don't try to solve a huge tangled mess all at once."

And twenty feet further along the road, a green circle. "When you meet children, propose an activity. When you meet adults, ask them questions about their life."

And another mile away, "Don't spend all your time blaming yourself - lowering your standards for yourself will actually make you more effective." A square white road sign, with a red border.

I know it sounds all woo-woo, but don't just just disregard it. I got pulled over for blaming myself, and I got a $192 ticket. I hate it when I do that!
