There's a street downtown that's only there on the first of each month. The cement is coated with some sort of slow-burning dry fuel, I think, because the whole street - sidewalk and center road - is always on fire. It's quite a channel to walk the street. Painful but exhilirating.
It's just a little alley. There's no store fronts, and only a few doors. All of the doors are steel fire doors, of course.
Whenever I walk down the street, I have bad luck for the next week or two, but a desirable kind of bad luck. I face challenges that teach me lessons. Uncomfortable opportunities for growth. When I have the energy to cope with it, I'm a better person from it. I usually walk the street about once a year.
I went this Wednesday, after stopping at a Chinese food place and getting some chow mein. Ate the chow mein as I was walking. My pants were a little charred, but not too much. I went to buy some CDs afterward.
On the other side of town, there's a street that's also only there on the first of each month. It's covered with ice and is very, very cold. No bad luck there, though; it's just really cold. Basically, the street just sucks.
